Sepideh T. Rousta, M.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Rousta completed her fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia (CHOP). She was awarded the prestigious Heed Fellowship Award, given to only two ophthalmology fellows in the country each year. Her training at CHOP was under Richard Hertle, M.D., who established the center for research in pediatric ophthalmology at the National Institute of Health.

Prior to her fellowship, Dr. Rousta completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania/Scheie Eye Institute, where she was the Chief Resident. Her medical degree is from SUNY/Stony Brook, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical national honor society. At Georgetown University, she received awards in creative writing while completing her pre-medical studies. She was granted her B.A. magna cum laude, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
 

Dr. Rousta has co-authored articles in major ophthalmic journals, including research on the use of adjustable sutures and vision screening essentials.  She has presented her research on eye movement disorders at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). With a team of experts, she has given a course on complex pediatric orbital and strabismus issues at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting, and has also published an article of proper vision screening in children in the journal Contemporary Pediatrics.

 

Dr. Rousta is board certified in ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a full member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). She is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical School, and an attending physician at Wills Eye Hospital.  She has been named as a New Jersey Family Magazine Favorite Kids' Doc every year from 2016-2022 and a New Jersey Monthly magazine Top Doctor in 2021.
