As we gather with family and friends this holiday season, we’re grateful for the gift of healthy vision, and for the opportunity to help your children see, learn, and play their very best.

In this month’s newsletter, we’re sharing a few ways to keep little eyes happy and healthy: a fun video featuring our doctors’ favorite Thanksgiving foods, an exciting update on Stellest lenses for myopia control, and expert advice on how to spot and address headaches linked to vision issues. Whether your family is celebrating with pumpkin pie, turkey, or unique holiday traditions, we hope these tips help your kids enjoy every moment clearly and comfortably!

🦃 A Thanksgiving Treat From Our Doctors!Ā šŸ‘€āœØ

Happy Thanksgiving from University Children’s Eye Center! šŸ‚

We asked our doctors a simple (but very important!) holiday question:

ā€œWhat’s your favorite Thanksgiving food?ā€

Their answers were fun, heartfelt, and surprisingly diverse, but you’ll have to watch the video to see what each doctor chose!

While you’re there, we’d love to hear from you:

What’s YOUR favorite Thanksgiving dish?Ā Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce… or a unique family tradition? Share it in the comments and join the festive fun!

Wishing you and your family a warm, safe, and delicious Thanksgiving. šŸšŸ’›

šŸ‘“ Give Thanks for Healthy Eyes: Stellest Lenses for Myopia Control

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for ways to help children see clearly, and there’s an exciting new option for families!

Stellest lensesĀ were recently approved by the FDA in the United States for myopia control. These specially designed lenses contain your child’s prescription and have been shown in studies to slow the progression of nearsightedness.

While only a handful of optical shops currently have them in stock, University Children’s Eye

Center will soon be prescribing Stellest lenses regularly, helping kids enjoy all the sights of the season, from pumpkin pie to family gatherings, with clear vision.

✨ Pro tip:Ā If you’re interested, give us a call to learn when Stellest lenses will be available for your child.

🧠 Why Your Child Might Have Headaches — And How Eye Care Can Help

Headaches can be tricky to figure out — especially in children. The eyes, head, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, and neck are all connected, so discomfort can come from many sources.

The good news? A comprehensive eye examĀ can often help identify the cause. Many times, headaches are linked to:

  • Vision issues — kids may need glasses or have trouble focusing their eyes together (binocular vision issues).

  • Allergies or sinus congestion — seasonal changes, like fall and winter allergens, can contribute.

  • Dental concerns or teething — even little teeth can make a big difference!

At University Children’s Eye Center, we carefully check to rule out any neurological concerns, while also identifying common vision-related causes. Catching these early can help your child feel better — and enjoy the sights, smells, and flavors of the Thanksgiving season without discomfort.

✨ Pro tip: If your child mentions frequent headaches, schedule an eye exam. It might be the first step toward relief!
