While University Children’s Eye Center is best known for pediatric eye care, we also treat a select group of adult patients with specific eye conditions. Dr. Engel, Dr. Sun, and Dr. Rousta see adults who have been diagnosed with strabismus—also known as eye misalignment—when specialized care is needed.
Our adult patients are typically referred by their general ophthalmologist or optometrist for advanced evaluation and treatment. Many are experiencing symptoms such as double vision or have been identified as candidates for eye muscle (strabismus) surgery. In these cases, our doctors focus on surgical consultation and management tailored to each patient’s diagnosis.
For adults who may benefit from prism glasses rather than surgery, a precise prism refraction is essential. Because this requires specialized expertise, we often recommend that these patients work with a local optometric practice experienced in prism refractions. This collaborative approach ensures each patient receives the most appropriate and effective care for their vision needs.
