Stellest lenses, now FDA-approved in the United States, represent an important advancement in the management of childhood myopia (nearsightedness). These innovative lenses are designed not just to correct vision, but also to help slow the progression of myopia over time, an increasingly common concern for children and families.
At University Children’s Eye Center, our doctors are closely following the rollout of Stellest lenses and are excited about their potential. In simple terms, Stellest lenses use a specialized optical design that helps reduce the signals in the eye that contribute to worsening myopia, while still providing clear vision for everyday activities.
As availability expands, we anticipate beginning to prescribe Stellest lenses more regularly. At this time, they are only offered through select optical shops with the appropriate training and equipment, which helps ensure proper fitting and optimal results.
If you have questions about myopia, myopia control, or whether Stellest lenses may be a good option for your child, our team is happy to help guide you through the available treatment options.
